BEHIND OUR FIRST TYPEFACE & JANUARY RECAP
Now a bit of a back story to Alleyway Display Typeface, which has been in the works since April 2022 (yes, that long) and since then I have picked it up, put it back down, put it in the bin, restored it, and tweaked it too many times to count, and it was finally at the point that if I looked at it any more my head would combust.
OUR INTERVIEW WITH PARADISO MAGAZINE
“The wonky and wonderful path that led me to where I sit today definitely started at a young age. I was the kid that always had to take charge – the real bossy-boots type and a know-it-all. As I got to University I tried to be more ‘chill’, but old habits die hard and I ended up registering Alleyway Designs before I had even finished my degree.”
I swear I wasn't purposely keeping it a secret, it kind of just happened unintentionally. Looking back, so much was happening behind the scenes with organising the move, a stop-over holiday, multiple visas, plus the logistics of transitioning to a fully remote business with me being in a different country to our designers. The planning of it all swallowed me whole, and I didn't post or boast about it because I felt like it was adding more things to an already overflowing to-do list.
PUTTING ALLY BACK INTO ALLEYWAY
So here we are, dipping our toes into 2023. How does it feel for you? Personally, it feels a bit daunting and scary to me (Ally) as last year was a bit (a lot) of a slog. It was messy, chaotic, heartbreaking, and very uncertain. The joys of running a business hey?
